Welcome to Medallion. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Medallion mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, accessing, or using Medallion, you confirm that you:

  • •Are at least 18 years of age, or have parental/guardian consent if between 13-17 years old
  • •Have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms
  • •Will comply with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws and regulations

2. Description of Service

Medallion is a digital provenance platform for collectibles that enables users to:

  • •Track and catalog collectible items (including but not limited to LEGO sets, trading cards, sneakers, and comics)
  • •Generate and manage digital "Medallions" that verify item provenance and ownership history
  • •Transfer items between users via secure QR-based handshake protocols
  • •Participate in global leaderboards and achievement systems
  • •Access merchant store networks for verified purchases
  • •Utilize AI-powered item identification and valuation estimates

3. User Accounts

3.1 Account Creation

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • •Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
  • •Maintain and promptly update your account information
  • •Keep your password secure and confidential
  • •Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
  • •Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

3.2 Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our sole discretion if you:

  • •Violate these Terms
  • •Engage in fraudulent or illegal activity
  • •Misrepresent item provenance or ownership
  • •Abuse the transfer system or attempt to manipulate leaderboards

4. Digital Medallions and Provenance

4.1 Nature of Medallions

Digital Medallions are non-transferable verification tokens that:

  • •Represent a record of item provenance within the Medallion ecosystem
  • •Are assigned unique serial numbers within their respective categories
  • •May be upgraded through tier systems (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Obsidian)
  • •Are NOT cryptocurrencies, NFTs, or blockchain-based assets
  • •Have no monetary value outside the Medallion platform

4.2 Provenance Records

  • •Provenance records are created based on user-submitted information
  • •Medallion does not independently verify the authenticity of physical items
  • •Users are solely responsible for the accuracy of item information
  • •Historical ownership records are immutable once created
  • •Medallion makes no guarantees regarding item authenticity or value

4.3 Limitations

  • •Medallions verify digital provenance records only, not physical item authenticity
  • •Market value estimates are algorithmic approximations and should not be relied upon for financial decisions
  • •Heritage and milestone designations are determined by platform criteria and may change

5. Item Transfers

5.1 Handshake Protocol

The Medallion transfer system requires:

  • •Both parties to be present with their devices
  • •The seller to initiate and approve the transfer
  • •The buyer to scan the QR code and confirm acceptance
  • •Completion within the 10-minute token validity window

5.2 Transfer Responsibilities

  • •Sellers warrant they are the rightful owners of items they transfer
  • •Buyers acknowledge they have reviewed item details before confirming
  • •All transfers are final once both parties have confirmed
  • •Medallion is not a party to any transaction between users
  • •Users are responsible for any agreements regarding payment, shipping, or physical item exchange

5.3 Disputes

  • •Medallion does not mediate disputes between users
  • •Users agree to resolve disputes directly with each other
  • •False transfer claims or fraudulent activity may result in account termination

6. Merchant Stores

6.1 Merchant Participation

Merchant stores that participate in the Medallion network agree to:

  • •Provide accurate item information at point of sale
  • •Honor the digital provenance system for eligible purchases
  • •Maintain standards for item authenticity and condition
  • •Comply with all applicable consumer protection laws

6.2 Consumer Rights

  • •Purchases from merchant stores are governed by that merchant's policies
  • •Medallion is not responsible for merchant products, services, or business practices
  • •Disputes with merchants should be directed to the merchant first

7. User Content

7.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of content you submit (photos, descriptions, etc.). By submitting content, you grant Medallion a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute such content in connection with the Service.

7.2 Prohibited Content

You agree not to submit content that:

  • •Infringes on intellectual property rights
  • •Contains false or misleading information
  • •Is defamatory, obscene, or offensive
  • •Violates any applicable law or regulation
  • •Contains malware or harmful code

8. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Key points include:

  • •We do not store precise GPS coordinates
  • •User privacy levels (public, anonymous, private) are respected
  • •Location data is limited to general origin labels for provenance purposes

9. Intellectual Property

9.1 Our Property

The Medallion name, logo, app design, and all related intellectual property are owned by Medallion. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

9.2 Third-Party Rights

References to third-party brands (LEGO, trading card companies, sneaker brands, comic publishers) are for identification purposes only. Medallion is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by these brands.

10. Disclaimers

10.1 Service Provided "As Is"

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

10.2 No Guarantee of Accuracy

We do not guarantee:

  • •The accuracy of market value estimates
  • •The authenticity of user-submitted item information
  • •The continuous, uninterrupted availability of the Service
  • •That the Service will meet your specific requirements

10.3 Third-Party Services

We are not responsible for third-party services, including AI providers, payment processors, or merchant partners.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MEDALLION AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • •Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • •Loss of profits, data, or goodwill
  • •Damages arising from your use or inability to use the Service
  • •Any conduct or content of third parties on the Service
  • •Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US, IF ANY, IN THE PAST TWELVE MONTHS.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Medallion and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:

  • •Your use of the Service
  • •Your violation of these Terms
  • •Your violation of any third-party rights
  • •Content you submit to the Service

13. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by:

  • •Posting the updated Terms in the app
  • •Updating the "Last Updated" date
  • •Sending a notification through the app (for significant changes)

Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

14.1 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

14.2 Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through:

  1. •Good faith negotiation between the parties
  2. •Binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association rules
  3. •Small claims court for qualifying disputes

14.3 Class Action Waiver

You agree to resolve disputes individually and waive any right to participate in class action lawsuits or class-wide arbitration.

15.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Medallion regarding the Service.

15.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

15.3 Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.

15.4 Assignment

You may not assign your rights under these Terms. We may assign our rights to any affiliate or successor.

17. Special Provisions

17.1 Beta Features

Some features may be designated as "beta" or "experimental." These features:

  • •Are provided without warranty
  • •May have additional terms specific to the feature

17.2 Leaderboards and Competitions

Participation in leaderboards and competitions is subject to:

  • •Fair play requirements
  • •Prohibition of manipulation or cheating
  • •Our right to remove rankings for Terms violations
  • •No guaranteed prizes unless explicitly stated

17.3 Subscription Services

If you subscribe to premium features:

  • •Billing occurs through your app store account
  • •Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled
  • •Refunds are subject to app store policies
  • •Feature availability may vary by subscription tier

By using Medallion, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

Refund & Return Policy

Refund Policy

Thank you for using Medallion. This Refund Policy explains how refunds are handled for purchases made through our platform.

1. Digital Services and Subscriptions

1.1 Subscription Purchases

All Medallion premium subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store. Refund requests for subscriptions must be submitted directly to Apple, as they control all billing and payment processing.

1.2 How to Request a Refund from Apple

  2. •Sign in with your Apple ID
  3. •Select "Request a refund"
  4. •Choose the reason for your refund request
  5. •Select the Medallion subscription charge
  6. •Submit your request

1.3 Refund Eligibility

Apple reviews all refund requests on a case-by-case basis. Refunds are typically granted for:

  • •Accidental purchases
  • •Unauthorized purchases
  • •Technical issues preventing use of the service
  • •Duplicate charges

1.4 Subscription Cancellation

Cancelling your subscription is different from requesting a refund:

  • •You can cancel anytime in your Apple ID settings
  • •Cancellation stops future billing but does not refund past charges
  • •You retain access to premium features until the end of your current billing period

2. In-App Purchases

2.1 One-Time Purchases

Any one-time in-app purchases (if applicable) are also processed through Apple and are subject to the same refund process described above.

2.2 Non-Refundable Items

The following are generally non-refundable:

  • •Consumed digital goods or services
  • •Purchases made more than 90 days ago
  • •Features or content that have been fully delivered and used

3. Free Services

3.1 Free Tier Features

Medallion offers core features at no cost, including:

  • •Item tracking and cataloging
  • •Digital Medallion generation
  • •Basic provenance records
  • •Item transfers between users

These free features require no payment and therefore no refund policy applies.

4. Merchant Store Purchases

4.1 Third-Party Merchants

Purchases made from merchant stores within the Medallion network are transactions between you and that merchant. Medallion is not a party to these transactions.

4.2 Merchant Refund Policies

  • •Contact the merchant directly for refund requests
  • •Each merchant has their own return and refund policy
  • •Medallion cannot process refunds for merchant purchases
  • •Medallion cannot mediate disputes between users and merchants

4.3 Digital Provenance After Refund

If you return an item purchased from a Medallion merchant:

  • •The merchant is responsible for updating provenance records
  • •Contact Medallion support if records are not updated after a completed return

5. User-to-User Transfers

5.1 No Medallion Involvement

Transfers between Medallion users are peer-to-peer transactions. Medallion does not:

  • •Process payments between users
  • •Hold funds in escrow
  • •Guarantee any transaction
  • •Mediate payment disputes

5.2 Transfer Finality

Once both parties confirm a transfer through the Handshake Protocol:

  • •The digital ownership record is permanently updated
  • •Medallion cannot reverse completed transfers
  • •Any payment disputes must be resolved between the parties directly

5.3 Recommendation

For user-to-user transactions involving payment, we recommend:

  • •Using secure payment methods with buyer protection
  • •Completing transfers in person when possible
  • •Verifying item condition before confirming the transfer

6. Service Interruptions

6.1 Outages and Technical Issues

If Medallion experiences extended service outages affecting paid subscribers:

  • •We may offer service credits at our discretion
  • •Refunds for outages are handled on a case-by-case basis
  • •Contact support with details of how you were affected

6.2 No Guarantee of Availability

As stated in our Terms and Conditions, we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Brief maintenance periods or technical issues do not qualify for refunds.

7. Account Termination

7.1 Termination by You

If you choose to delete your account:

  • •No refund is provided for unused subscription time
  • •Cancel your subscription before deleting your account to prevent future charges

7.2 Termination by Medallion

If we terminate your account for Terms violations:

  • •No refund is provided
  • •You remain responsible for any charges incurred before termination

8. Chargebacks

8.1 Dispute Resolution First

Before initiating a chargeback with your bank or credit card company, please:

  • •Contact Apple for subscription refunds
  • •Contact the merchant for store purchases
  • •Contact Medallion support for assistance

8.2 Consequences of Chargebacks

Filing a chargeback without attempting resolution may result in:

  • •Suspension of your Medallion account
  • •Loss of accumulated data and provenance records
  • •Inability to create a new account

10. Policy Changes

We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted in the app and on our website with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of Medallion after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

Summary: Subscription refunds go through Apple. Merchant refunds go through the merchant. User-to-user transfers are final and between the parties involved. When in doubt, contact support.
